What's Coming Next?
We continuously collect feedback from booksellers and publishers, sales executives and marketing specialists, readers and reviewers on how we can improve and enrich our service.
Coming very soon is an addition to our DISCOVERY™ portal that will provide publishers with data and analytics about sample opens, sample reads (our reader analytics making a reappearance) and sample shares, with the option to drill down by retailer and partner channel.
Many have also asked if we can provide real-time sales data for books to better understand how marketing and publicity campaigns are performing. This is a politically complex topic, but we are having intensive discussions with our bookshop and ecommerce partners to make this possible.
Having recently introduced support for PDF files, we will offer publishers the opportunity to host their sales catalogues on Jellybooks with the Jellybooks Cloud Reader instead of having to use Issuu.
We will go one step further and provide the tools to make sales catalogues interactive by enriching them with clickable links to samples and review copies.
Publisher sales catalogues can be distributed as simple links (URLs) in the same way as our samples, providing a click & read experience for publisher sales and preview catalogues.
They can also be embedded on publisher web pages using our iframe feature.
Publishers have asked us to provide advance review copies in electronic form (eARCs) to retailers and bookshops via the Jellybooks Cloud Reader — in other words, full access to the ebook instead of the 10% sample — to avoid needing to mail physical review copies or pay steep fees to NetGalley or Edelweiss. We listened, and in 2027 we will commence a pilot with the Waterstones Booksellers Group to provide eARC access. Initially, this will test the eARC service with the ecommerce managers who curate the pre-order newsletters, so they have access to the full books being featured by publishers. We may then roll out the service to a wider range of booksellers and stakeholders.
The service will be included without any extra charge in our DISCOVERY™ Professional tier and will allow publishers to provide eARCs at no extra cost for any book in their catalogue.
Publishers, including academic publishers, have asked whether we can host Open Access (OA) books, and the answer is yes. We can already do this by setting the sample length at 100% for specified books. Going forward, we will allow publishers to set this parameter through ONIX and provide advanced analytics tools specific to OA titles.
